Celebrating Trailblazing Women in HIT

Part I: Liane Parker, RN CPHM

Founder & CEO of Quantify Remote Care

At this year’s HIMSS Conference, we’re raising a caffeinated toast to female innovators in health IT as part of the HIT Like a Girl Pod Coffee Networking Event.

Leading up to the event—and in recognition of this year’s International Women’s Day theme, #EmbraceEquity—we’re featuring conversations with some of our favorite women in healthcare. We’ve asked these trailblazers to share insights about the challenges facing healthcare today and the solutions that will define its future.

We are so thrilled to have Liane Parker, Founder & CEO of Quantify Remote Care, kicking off the series below. We hope you’ll enjoy these conversations and join us at HIMSS for an inspirational morning of connection and inspiration!

Share something interesting about yourself that others may not know.

I actually started my healthcare journey as a very young child in West Virginia. My grandmother was a nurse, and you could often find me riding her medicine cart at the hospital where she worked. I ultimately became a nurse’s aide and worked my way up from LPN to RN. Now, I’m proud to serve as CEO of the company I founded.

What is the most pressing frustration that clinicians have with regard to healthcare technology?

Too many silos and specialized platforms are actually making things harder for providers and patients, not easier. To fulfill the promise of healthcare IT, we need agnostic, across-the-board technologies that communicate seamlessly and decrease time burdens. This is key to addressing care staff burnout and delivering a positive user experience for patients.

Within healthcare technology, what do you believe has the most potential to drive meaningful change?

A combination of technology and empathy-driven healthcare. We all know technology can streamline and create meaningful efficiencies, but that can’t be the endgame when it comes to caring for patients. Empathy in conjunction with that technology is the key to driving meaningful change in healthcare.

In honor of International Women’s Day 2023 (and this year’s theme of #EmbraceEquity), how can healthcare technology support equity?

We have to make this technology accessible to everyone—every societal level, location and population. We have to break down barriers and build a combined infrastructure that supports the entire person throughout their healthcare journey. That’s what we are doing at Quantify, and it’s our differentiator.

If you'll be at HIMSS23, we hope you'll join us to raise a toast to the power of female collaboration on Tuesday at 7:00 AM in partnership with HIT Like A Girl Pod. Learn more and register here.
